What is a TROT Air-Km FTR?

It is a Blockchain-registered right to fly one passenger-km on the issuing airline at a pre-fixed price any time within an 8-year horizon. Consumption ratios for premium classes, child / senior fares, excess baggage and cargo are fixed at the time of mint.

How is the pre-fixed price calculated?

It is the 5-year inflation-adjusted average of the trailing-12-month fare per passenger-km, set at 55% of that benchmark. The exact methodology is transcribed in the Aviation chapter of the FTR note (Table 88) and is locked at minting.

Is this a security or an investment scheme?

No. Aviation FTRs are conditional rights to acquire a future service at a locked price. They are not regulated SEBI instruments and they are not collective investment schemes. Please read the disclaimer at the bottom of this page.

What returns can I expect?

The platform does not promise returns. The benchmark indicative ROI is around 9% p.a. in Indian conditions, sustained through market-maker bidding. Holders may earn more during peak-demand seasons when surge demand for FTRs lifts marketplace prices. There is no guarantee of profit.

What is the recall mechanism?

An airline may voluntarily recall outstanding units after 5 years post-mint. A market maker may demand recall when the stock with him exceeds 33% of outstanding units, after the 3rd year. The Ombudsman may force a recall on a default. Compensation per unit is locked at mint and ring-fenced in a dedicated bank account.

How do I book a ticket on FTR terms?

Sign in. Search the flight. The booking screen shows the pre-fixed-price + GST in cash, and the units to be consumed. You may pay any combination of cash + units, subject to the airline's earmark availability for that flight.

Can I sell my units?

Yes. Units are listed on the platform with market-maker support. The platform does not itself trade or take positions; it routes settled prices to your bank. Tradability of Airport-Service FTRs is restricted as described in the system specs.

What if a flight is cancelled or I cancel?

Refunds restore your units to your wallet. Cancellation deductions follow the airline's published refund policy.

Do I need to register before browsing?

No — browsing the FTR class details, FAQs and route information is open to anyone. To buy a ticket on FTR terms or to mint, registration is required.

How do airlines mint?

An airline submits a 5-tab Mint Application: promoter / business / capacity / underlying / programme. Two consultants vet it. On approval, the airline pays the minting fee and signs the legal Annexure. Units are then minted to the airline's wallet against the ring-fenced earmark and Recall Fund.

Can a minter mint again?

Yes — for both AIRLINE_AIRKM and AIRPORT_SERVICE, re-minting is allowed in fresh trenches subject to the policy in the FTR-Type Registry. Minimum lot sizes apply. Each trench is a separate Annexure-signed event.
